What Did City Planning Accomplish in 2022?
Angelenos had many city planning wins in 2022.
How Los Angeles Got Serious About Housing
Our City—rich in industry and creativity—has gained the unfortunate notoriety of being a major epicenter in the California housing crisis. The fundamental reason for our crisis is the same as in most global cities: an extreme shortage of housing, which has left Angelenos to face overcrowding, punishing commutes, or, all too often, homelessness.
City Planning has developed a variety of information-sharing tools to keep Angelenos informed about the type of development projects being proposed and approved in their neighborhoods, especially discretionary projects that require some level of review or sign-off from our Department.
Enhancing the LAX Pedestrian Experience
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), like a number of larger and older airports in the country, was not originally designed for the pedestrian experience, whether the pedestrian is a visitor or one of the thousands of employees who keep people and goods moving. Today, pedestrians find it challenging simply to navigate around the airport.
